An Investigation of the Lifting Ability of a Crane

In the above photo, Professor De Boer is conducting tests on a model crane which he constructed from Erector Set parts. This model has a crank on it that turns a drum to wind up a string which he used to lift other toys, like the toy boat he is attaching to the hook.
