EGR-363-01: Intro:Communication Systems

If new editions become available before classes start, would you like to use the new editions?

No

If yes, are you aware if a new edition is currently available?

No

Will the students enrolling in this course already have the textbook from a previous course that they themselves have taken?

No

Do you require a CD or access code, if one is available?

No

Will you be advising the students that they NEED to have their own textbook, that they may share a particular textbook, that they really don't need the textbook, or any other options you might share with the students? We would appreciate knowing this so that we can make a more responsible order decision on how many textbooks to order.

Prof. De Boer recommends that each student should personally own a textbook. Other options might be workable (e.g. rent or borrow). Whatever option is chosen, plan for open book tests in this course. Students may not share books during the tests. Each student should have access to a textbook during each test.

Comments:

Students will need an NCEES approved calculator. A list of approved models can be found here: http://ncees.org/exams/calculator-policy/ A model that supports complex number calculations is preferable. Complex number calculations will be encountered in this course. (The TI-36x Pro, Casio FX-115 ES, HP 35s, etc. can do complex number calculations.) While complex number calculations can be done with a calculator that only supports real numbers, it takes more time, which is a disadvantage especially on tests.
